It's All Greek To Me

YIASAS!

Don't worry I didn't loose you, it's just "Hello" in Greek. So for this Flashback Friday we're going back, way back, to Ancient Greek Civilization. Jk. We're just going to the Greek Festival this weekend. Since the Greek Festival is this weekend I figure I would like revisit some memories from the times I was in Cyprus/Greece.

My family has a home in Cyprus where my grandmother lives and we have been visiting the motherland every other summer since I was 3 or 4. I have so many wonderful memories going back home. 98% of my family still lives there and lets just say it's an expensive and long trip to grandmothers house, but it's worth it.

Weddings, Greek Cookouts at the beach, Coffee on the beach, Seeing my little cousins growing up, Playing backgammon with my grandfather in the mountains in the middle of nowhere, Plus being in the midst of such ancient history is just so surreal.

I think culture and family is so important to maintain and preserve so here is my little mark down memory lane.

My grandfather and I playing with Photobooth for his first time. He was fascinated.

Yes, Greeks can be blonde haired and blue-eyed... Actually true Greeks are.

A distant relatives wedding... Yes this happens at every wedding and PS the money dance had just gotten started.... Much more was added... PPS: Half the Greek weddings I've gone too, I have no idea who these family members are... But none the less, we're related.

Yup, he's Greek too, don't let the red hair fool you. We're going parasailing.

Ohhh those were the good 'ol days, when you could play in a sandbox and not get looked at funny (hence I still do this when I go to the beach lol)... And yes, my mom fed us... We look a little malnourished here. lol

Work That Ponytail... Own That Updo

Hair. Weave. Wigs. Extensions. Tracks.... And the like. Whatever you call your hair ladies, it doesn't matter because we all have to deal with it one time or another.

Since I have cut my hair (regretfully) I have gotten stuck in a rut with my hair styles and so I went back to old pictures and reminisced on all the ways I was able to wear my hair back in the good 'ol days (4 months ago lol).

To satisfy the beauties with not so much of long-hair-don't-care I added some styles from my recent "change".

I Have Unlimited Minutes With God

It's a typical Saturday. I'm cleaning up and talking... out loud, to God... (If you haven't done this, I highly recommend it.)

I was asking, expressing, and just praying about all the different things that are going on in my life and God totally put the most amazing thing on my heart.

"I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you"-
 Psalm 32:8

The Creator of the Earth wants me to have a relationship with Him and call Him Father (I mean woah, I'm like not even worthy). The God who created every last star in the sky, created a specific and perfect plan for each of His children. They're all right there in His file cabinet with all our names on them (At least that's what I'd like to think, I mean He's a busy man... He deserves some organization methods... Maybe a secretary??)

Sometimes I like to get down on myself (Woe is me.. womp womp) and think that my plan isn't special or I'm just here to fill in the empty space on this big Earth. How could I think that? How could anyone ever think that? If we could truly understand how magnificent God is (Colossians 2:2-3) then we would understand how amazing our plan is.

"And we know in all things, God works for the good of those who love Him" - Romans 8:28

The thing is, everyone's plan is different. Some may seem "bigger" in a worldly sense, "special", or down right just "funner" (disciple me on my grammar later lol) but when we can comprehend that the King of Kings designed us and our purpose, we should rejoice. I am apart of God's plan, I was created for Him. This just blows me away when I really meditate on this though.

In the grand scheme of things, all of Gods little plans with each one of us creates His big plan for His Kingdom. Sometimes I think "What if my plan or my decision right now is going to allow for God's plan for someone else to take shape?" I mean, look at the way life works?

I am just amazed that God chose me...

"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future" -Jeremiah 29:11

The Weatherman Lied Again...

Everyone knows the story... You get dressed all cute, do your hair, and then by the middle of the day it's raining like Mount St. Helens and you definitely don't remember the weatherman telling you.

Well if you're like me, the hair is going up and the umbrellas and cozy sweaters and rain boots (that aren't Hunters, I'm not a grown up yet... I wont graduate to adult-hood until I own a pair, so I'm avoiding them... I prefer Hello Kitty or anything Pink hehe) are coming out. These past few days in my area have had some bi-polar rainy weather, but with these essentials you will be prepared incase that man with the silly bow-tie on your TV lies about the forecast.
