I Will Not Be Getting The "I Voted" Sticker This Election

 

So I thought that I would touch on the touchy issue that seems to be all people are talking about...

POLITICS! 

Since the hype about the big election coming up I wanted to give my insight, which may surprise you.

If you would have asked me a few years ago about politics I would have talked with you till the death. Told you how I thought the opposing candidate to who I wanted was this, this, oh AND that.... and how I thought you were an idiot for considering them.

I hosted and attended debate watch parties, read up on many articles, watched a lot of news, and really educated myself about each candidate, usually priding myself on being a moderate but usually leaning toward the left.

Well then Jesus came into the picture and I read this verse:

"I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness." - 1 Timothy 1:2-12

“Makes Jesus your Lord proud of you by being good citizens. Respect the authorities, whatever their level; they are God's emissaries for keeping order. It is God's will that by doing good, you might cure the ignorance of fools... Exercise your freedom by serving God, not by breaking the rules. Treat everyone you meet with dignity. Love your spiritual family. Revere God. Respect the government.” 

-1 Peter 2:13-17 (The Message Translation) 

"Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God." -Romans 13:1

After much prayer, biblical wisdom, and observation of politics I have decided that for the presidency, I will vote for neither Barack Obama or Mitt Romney.

My reasons for not voting are many but the main few are these:

1) No matter who you vote for, if Congress cannot learn to work and pass legislation in a bi-partisan manner, it doens't matter if the President wants to give us all unicorns and gum drops, it's not going to happen unless Congress can learn to work together (which is why I vote for my senators, governors, representatives, etc.)

2) I don't agree fully with either party at this point to vote for one or the other.

3) If a third party would ever get into office, I would vote for them, but unfortunately Americans' and politics care more about parties than about the betterment of our country. It's time to move on from the two party system.

Stating my opinion is in no way disregarding anyone else's. I know the cost that the price that was paid to have our freedom and rights and I exercise them regularly and in other such elections. I believe it is powerful as a nation for all of us to join in on the discussion, respectfully debate, and to not let this become the main focus of our lives. There are still mouths to feed, bodies to clothe, and love to be given.

A Backwoods Weekend

Hello!

So this past weekend was a little different.

Usually my Saturdays I work from 10-6, but I took off work so I could go to Diana, TX 

(3 hours from where I live) with some friends. David's family lives in Diana and lives on a beautiful piece of property in a log house with trees everywhere and a perfect pond to complete the setting.

I am definitely not one who has much experience out in the country but it was so nice to get away and to literally be forced not to use my phone since this area didn't get service.

The day started with BBQ Brisket Sandwhiches from a little hole in the wall place.

Then the fun came aka skeet shooting. It's not my first time skeet shooting but I don't have much expierence with a 12 guage... let's just say the kick back is a lot different from a 20

After a while of goofing around and laughing we got to ride four wheelers through the country side. It was probably my favorite part. I have never been on a four wheeler and all we saw were hills and pine tree farms, animals.
It was golden hour so the sun was perfect (which distracted me from my face that was freezing off)

I also had the opportunity to make so delicious homemade fudge with David's mother. The recipe will come in a later post.

We ended the day with a beautiful dinner of baked potatoes,chicken, and pork chops.

Convicting Scripture that prompted me to make things right with certain people.

 I've been meditating on this one for the past two weeks.

Loving my thrifted long black dress and new iPhone case.

After a traumatizing day at the doctor (don't ask... I literally turn into a 5 year old girl as soon as I step into anyone's office that practices medicine.) my mom treated me to brunch at Le Peep. These Fall Harvest Crepes and potatoes fed the soul... Along with answered prayers the next day. Refuge in God is much better than refuge in food or shopping (Another thing God has been working on in my heart).

It's so stinkin' tiny we don't know yet and he/she hasn't gone to the vet. This is my God Child and I love it!

 

I finally put on eye shadow for once.

 

Loving a silk harem pant and black stilettos. It's like wearing PJ's with my favorite shoes.

 

Have this on repeat... It encourages my soul and speaks so much truth about God.

 

My first time ever going to the ballet! So I decided BBQ was in order for celebration. 

We saw Peer Gynt at Bass Performance Hall in Ft. Worth. It was truly lovely.

Ferris Wheel Memories

 

This was a frozen chocolate banana with sprinkles. I'm still wondering why this is only sold at the fair; it's far too delicious.

A real life "My Little Pony". Apparently miniature horses make good pets and comfort people.

 I'm adding it to my list of future pets. No, seriously.

Better Late Than Never.... State Fair Edition

 If your tractor doesn't have 80" rims, you're not talking about 'nothin.

 It was Stephanie's first time at the fair but she's a native Texan.

 Both of our first Ferris Wheel ride. Let's just say we hadn't even gotten off the ground and I was terrified.

 Lies. This is when I was terrified...

....And then I calmed down.

 Fun House Fun!

 Stephanie having fun in the Fun House and no I am not talking in the 3rd person, Stephanie is my roommate, best friend, sister in Christ with the same name. Yaya for same-named best friends!

 I've heard some say we look alike.... I'm hoping the younger Cher because the 60 year old Cher would be a little insulting *raises forehead to see if my face can still move*

 These little babies were amazing.

 It was like a hand held "Brisket Pot Pie/Hot Pocket.... 

A lifetime supply would be an understatement.

And we ended the night off with a minature pony which I have added to the list of animals I want: 

Holland Lop Bunny, Flamingo (I found out were illegal to keep as pets, but I'm sure I can adopt one somewhere), Sea Horses, a White Teacup Persian Cat, and a Mame Shiba Inu.
