"Then they searched throughout Israel for a beautiful girl and found Abishag, a Shunammite, and brought her to the king"
-1 Kings 1:3
How many of yall would jump at the chance to keep an old, wrinkly, & sick man warm by having to sleep beside him in his bed? What about if he was a King? (I hope your answer is still the same... Ew. Cooties)
Well lucky Abishag had that task back in the good 'ol days. The lucky or not so lucky King David was the one who needed heat, "Let her lie in they bosom, that my lord the king may get heat" - 1 Kings 1:2
We can't really say for sure what Abishag's feelings were about this task, considering she was young and beautiful, I'm sure she wasn't very thrilled, however a principle can be applied here....
How many times do we complain or dislike a task or duty given to us by God? I know for me, going and reaching out and sharing my faith, cold contact, can be very intimidating and scary for me but at the same time I know I must never be ashamed of the Gospel (Romans 1:16).
I think all the time, what if the girls that reached out to me were afraid of what I may have thought or thought that I would have never changed? Heck, I didn't think I would have ever changed. I would have been lost and in the dark still... SCARY!
Whatever God has called us to do, we must prove faithful (1 Corinthians 4:2) because whether it's a dream job or nightmare, God has called us to it and we must deliver.
For example, God gave me a smart mind (ehhh most days lol) and I know my abilities & when I don't perform or use 100% of my talents, I feel like I am cheating God. God knows my best and He deserves it.
If you have a tough task on your plate, make every effort, God doesn't expect perfection, you putting your whole heart into it for Him is what matters. Pray and God will deliver you when the time is right.
(Like my dream job vs night mare visual??... Lol)
